magical things, patiently waiting
I love inspiration boards. I love that they represent a glimpse into someone else's dreamworld, and how much - or how little - they reveal about the creator. Everything about an inspiration board is meaningful, from the objects and images displayed, to the method of affixing, to the placement on the board, and the board in the room.
Besides all that, I love collections of bit and bobs, fragments, flotsam and jetsam. It's good to have a place for all the bits you collect along the way, don't you think?
I have an inspiration board which is currently packed away, awaiting transport into an as-yet unknown location (aka: our new house, wherever that may be). In a hurry, I packed it whole, jingling and rattling and rustling in its wrappings. I wonder how much of it I'll change when I unpack it in its new home?

life is what happens
Fast-forward a few dozen years, and here I am, pining for this log home on 8 acres, with river frontage (trees, wind, and water included):
But as much as I want a log cabin, I don't want typical log cabin decor. I'd rather see deer in my yard than on my wall, and I doubt I'd ever intentionally own a blanket with grizzly bears on it. Just because I want a cabin doesn't mean I have to have a patchwork quilt on my bed, and twig furniture throughout.
Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those things; I own and love quite a few patchwork quilts, and actually like twig furniture a lot. But this is just NOT MY STYLE:

little house made of logs
On this beautiful day -
We found this beautiful house -
Secluded, well off the beaten path, down a road less traveled...
The house sits on 8 mostly wooded acres with Blue River frontage, beautiful landscaping, a koi pond, large front and back porches. It's beautiful, pristine, well-built ... and small. So small, in fact, that the only way I'm confident we can make it work is if we put our bed in the loft - which I'm not opposed to in the least. I do, after all, love cozy spaces.
