our eyes permit

I learned to read when I was 4. I wasn't particularly precocious, just curious, and fortunate enough to have a big sister to teach me. I specifically remember learning the word look, and that the two "oo"s looked like eyes...for looking.

I've been looking my whole life. There's so much to see.

Look at these autumnal images, all from etsy:

While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph
can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes,
there is another in which it proves to us
how little our eyes permit us to see.
