accomplishments of polite society

One of my very favorite things is sitting around the table after dinner with my family of darlings and laughing our asses off at our wildly inappropriate (and usually grossly disgusting) conversations. We're not the Waltons; we're more like the (Roseanne) Barrs. But we're happy.

No matter how big the table is, though, we always seem to need a bigger one. What a lovely "problem" to have - so many people to love that no table is big enough to seat them all...

“The dinner table is the center for the teaching and practicing not just of table manners
but of conversation, consideration, tolerance, family feeling, and just about all the other accomplishments of polite society except the minuet.”

Love it all, the Barrs, the tables and the fact that you need a bigger one!
