my own little corner

When I was a child, and ill, my mother made me a little "room" in her closet so she would hear me if I needed her during the night. I slept on a cot, tucked in safely with my blankets and pillows and stuffed animals. The louvered doors stayed open, but the slanted roof of the under-stairs nook made a place that I didn't want to give up even when I recovered.

I've never outgrown my love of small cozy spaces, and at this point in my life I think it's quite safe to say I never will!

In my own little corner in my own little chair
I can be whatever I want to be.
On the wings of my fancy I can fly anywhere
and the world will open its arms to me...
