no end to the adventures

Have I mentioned this?

It's my latest venture, and I kind of love it a lot. Between having a legitimate excuse to shop for vintage treasures and the opportunity to pretend I'm writing copy for J. Peterman, what's not to love?

Stop by, favorite the shop, and if you see something you must have, convo me via etsy to let me know you found me via the blog and I'll give you a 10% discount! ;)

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open."- Jawaharlal Nehru

rekindle the inner spirit

book/ [boo'k] /

Noun:
A written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers.

sto·ry/ˈstôrē/

Noun:
  1. An account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment: "an adventure story".

Did I mention that I got this smart + pretty little thing for Christmas? No, hardcore book-lovers, it's not a book, but it's full of stories, and I love it. Plus, I can read my favorite blogs, check my email and facebook, and listen to audiobooks while I'm traveling.

I'm notoriously hard on electronics, though. I've drowned numerous cell phones and 1 mp3 player in cups of sweet milky coffee over the years, drowned another cell phone in the toilet, and somehow managed to lose 3 keys from my laptop keyboard. So a case for this new baby is a must. I did get a case for Christmas, too, but these offerings from the talented folks over at etsy make me think I could change them out like purses...

CitrusSister $10
SewitGirl $40

irisandlily $20

UPSTYLE $35
kreatedbykim $30

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.  - Albert Schweitzer

your child's favorite

Monsters and squirrels and brooms, oh my!

If I had a little kid, these are the kinds of toys I'd want him or her to have. Handmade, fun. Funny. Beautiful. Sweet.

Parents are under a lot of pressure to provide kids with the toys all their friends have.

Grandparents, on the other hand...

The summer moon shone brightly down upon the sleeping earth, while far away from mortal eyes danced the Fairy folk. Fire-flies hung in bright clusters on the dewy leaves, that waved in the cool night-wind; and the flowers stood gazing, in very wonder, at the little Elves, who lay among the fern-leaves, swung in the vine-boughs, sailed on the lake in lily cups, or danced on the mossy ground, to the music of the hare-bells, who rung out their merriest peal in honor of the night. ~ Louisa May Alcott, Flower Fables

look out the streaked window with complacency

Attention, ark-builders: this may be a good time to get building.

In the meantime, there are always silver linings...

The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain.  This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain that falls on a day when you'd just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency.  ~Susan Allen Toth
