coming home again


The foyer is filled with towers of boxes, perilously tall; it's a labyrinth from the stairs to the front door. Today (they don't call it Labor Day for nothin') we tackle the garage, and make space in the house.

Many of the houses we've looked at lack a proper entryway, and the front door opens directly into the living room. I prefer a transitional space between the two, where you can drop your bags, put your keys in a dish, sort the mail, and shake off the day before entering the inner sanctum...

Oh, how I just love the top image, I want something exactly like that in my own entry hall. Also the buttom image shows a nice, cosy atmosphere.
